Some Future Health Predictions

I’ve been part of what’s would be called the low carb movement  ever since seeing Fathead three or four years ago. Having done some thought, here are some general health predictions that I think will happen in, say, the next 30 years.

Things whose consumption will go down:

  • Wheat
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup
  • Corn Syrup
  • Sugar
  • Canola oil
  • Corn oil
  • Cottonseed oil
  • Sunflower oil
  • Peanut oil
  • Soy lecithin

Things whose consumption will go up:

  • Sugar alcohols like Xylitol
  • Coconut and almond flour (as replacements for wheat flour)
  • Saturated Fat
  • Red Meat
  • Pork
  • Eggs
  • Dairy
  • Lard
  • Butter
  • Tallow (the previous three will come back as cooking oils to replace canola and corn oil)

Additional predictions:

  • Food will taste better
  • Health costs will go down (assuming, of course, socialized medicine doesn’t take over)
  • Wheat and sugar farmers will demand more subsidies from U.S government as demand falls (assuming someone in the government has the sense to stop subsidizing them)
